This is very much a tourist area and there are hotels and B & B places everywhere. Depending on where you decide to fish you could stay in Moffat itself - I can recommend:-

Two letting rooms which can be organised as double, twin or family. Totally relaxed about Sea Trout anglers coming in at 4am - which is rare. Telephone No. 01576 470470. Nice people and they have books of day permits for Upper Beat, Annandale Estate and Applegarth Beats, so thats about 12 miles of the river!!!

The Red House access is from the all purpose road B.7076 north of Johnstonebridge. Signposted Newton Wamphray and first building you come to

Just south of Johnstonebridge also beside the B.7076 is Dinwoodie Lodge Hotel, Johnstonebridge, DG11 2SL Tel: 01576 470289 - nice meals but I literally have no idea about the accommodation, probably fine. CLOSED and for sale following a family tragedy

Further downstream, at Lockerbie is the Drovers Inn Hotel In Lockerbie High Street, formerly the Blue Bell

Also at Lockerbie is the Ravenshill Hotel Peacefully situated on the Dumfries road, leading out of Lockerbie to the West. Very much a family run Hotel and where the Improvement Association hold their meetings.

2 1/2 miles south west of Lockerbie on the Dalton road, is the Riverside Mill Two spacious letting rooms, One double and one twin, both with en-suite facilities. Peaceful, homely, off road parking, great views of the River Annan

Travelling West from Lockerbie towards Lochmaben, cross the Annan and take first left towards Heck, Hightae, Greenhill and Smallholm, collectively known as the Royal Four Towns There you will find, The Hightae Inn (Formerly the Royal Four Towns Inn) Under new management since January, 2008, Morag and Mark Cuthbertson have undertaken an extensive renovation programme to bring the Inn up to the high standard you will find today.

3 or 4 miles west of Lockerbie, at Lochmaben is the Balcastle Holiday Home

A mile or so west of Lochmaben, is the LAIRD HOUSE self catering holiday house Laird House sits in an elevated position with stunning views over Annandale, from the Moffat Hills to the Solway Coast and beyond.  Situated on a working cattle and sheep farm and completed in 2009, the house is spacious and luxurious and fully accessible for disabled visitors with all rooms on the ground floor, including a family bedroom, with bunk beds if required, and a games area.
